Monica Dengo is an artist, calligrapher and designer. She has taught in many institutions, including the Academy of Art University in San Francisco Usa, and in Italy, the Libera Università di Bolzano, the Ca’ Foscari University in Venice, the Fondazione Musei Civici Veneziani and the ISIA, Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche in Urbino and in Faenza. She has also been teaching for cultural organizations in Japan, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Canada, Russia and United States. Her collaboration with the Centro Internazionale Arti Calligrafiche, a non-profit association, has lead to the development of a three years long calligraphy course in Venice. Her work has been exhibited in many parts of the world and in 2014 she was awarded best international artist at the Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial.
Monica has also given special attention to the teaching of handwriting to children, as you can read in the website scritturacorsiva.it. Her manual Pick Up Your Pen has been published in Canada, France, Italy and Estonia and her new book Lascia il Segno, dedicated to handwriting as an expression of human creativity, has just been published with Terre di Mezzo Editore.
